The LFP won another legal round on Wednesday, as the Paris Court of Appeal ruled in its favour against Canal+ and beIN Sports over the 2021 rights fallout.
According to L'Équipe, Amazon Prime Video took over Mediapro's abandoned package, 80% of Ligue 1, for 250 M€ per season, while the LFP kept beIN's deal at 332 M€ for 20% of matches.
Canal+ and beIN had sought around 660 million euros from the league. The latest rulings ease pressure on the LFP, whose broadcast revenues are currently limited.
The league welcomed the decisions, which it views as confirming earlier findings since 2021 by courts and the competition authority. It described them as the 19th and 20th favourable outcomes and urged an end to what it calls a procedural and reputational campaign by the two broadcasters.
Talks over distributing Ligue 1+ recently collapsed, with Canal+ refusing to drop ongoing cases. Nicolas de Tavernost expressed regret over not accepting LFP Media's offer to restart on better terms. Even after these rulings, Canal+ is not currently minded to distribute Ligue 1+.
