Liam Cooper has welcomed Harry Gray to Sheffield Wednesday after the 17-year-old completed a season-long loan, with the Leeds United youngster set to spend the 2026/27 campaign back in League One.
According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Wednesday confirmed the deal on Tuesday as they begin a new era under fresh ownership following relegation from the Championship earlier this year.
Gray scored three goals in 20 League One appearances during a six-month spell at Rotherham United last season amid a relegation fight. He and Leeds will hope a move to a promotion contender brings greater scope to add to that senior tally. Leeds will monitor his progress closely.
Cooper, 34, signed a new one-year deal with Wednesday in June, having first joined on a short-term contract in November last year to add experience during a squad overhaul. He also marked Gray’s arrival on Instagram with the three-word caption, "Here he is".
Gray has already linked up with his new teammates for pre-season. Wednesday begin with a Carabao Cup tie against Bolton Wanderers on 8 August, a week and a half before Leeds kick off in the Premier League.
Wednesday’s social channels have shown early fitness work, including what looked like the bleep test. After finishing, the Leeds loanee dropped to the floor for a well-earned breather.
