Liam Delap has insisted Liam Rosenior has really helped the squad since coming in despite the recent poor results.

The Blues have lost their last three games in all competitions, with PSG easing to a comfortable 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Chelsea have the opportunity to respond and face a tough trip to Everton on Saturday evening knowing they need the three points in the race for Champions League qualification.

Liam Delap on Liam Rosenior impact

Rosenior made a good start to life at Chelsea, but it feels like the wheels have started to fall off, and he’s been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism.

Questions have been asked about his future, but it’s been reported the Blues still believe in Rosenior, but football ultimately is a results based business.

A win against Everton would alleviate some of the building pressure before the international break, and Delap feels despite recent results Rosenior has helped the group.

“He’s still not had a lot of time; it’s always tough coming in with no preseason where you can get your ideas across without having games,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“He comes straight in, and it’s difficult when you have a game every three days to get everything across. But the messages he’s delivered to the boys and how training and how his meetings have been have really helped us.

“Hopefully we can keep building on that, getting more information, and understanding him a lot more.”

Chelsea striker needs to improve his form

Whilst Delap spoke positively about Rosenior, the striker will be fully aware he needs to improve his form between now and the end of the season.

Delap arrived last summer from Ipswich for £30m, but has failed to have the desired impact in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Injuries have played their part, but when he has played he’s not hit the level required, and has managed just two goals in 31 appearances in all competitions, whilst another striker in Emmanuel Emegha is set to arrive in the summer.
