Liam Delap wants to make a decision on his future before this summer’s Under-21 European Championship.

Delap is in-demand following Ipswich Town’s relegation from the Premier League. The 22-year-old has scored 12 league goals despite a tough season for The Tractor Boys.

Ipswich’s relegation has activated a £30m release clause in his contract and a wealth of Premier League sides are interested in signing the striker.

Chelsea and Manchester United are the frontrunners to sign Delap, who wants his future resolved before joining up with England for the Under-21 European Championship, which begins on June 11. Everton have also expressed interest in signing Delap, though David Moyes has admitted a deal will be difficult given the competition.

The forward is waiting to discover how the seasons conclude for his suitors, with Chelsea and Manchester United’s European participations still to be decided. United must win the Europa League to reach Europe, ahead of facing Spurs in the final later this month.

Manchester United are understood to be optimistic about signing Delap, according to talkSPORT. Delap is he club’s number one striker target and the Red Devils have the resources to sign both the Ipswich forward and Wolves midfielder Matheus Cunha early in the transfer window.

Chelsea are also keen, with Enzo Maresca having worked with Delap during his time at Manchester City. The West Londoners want to sign a striker to provide competition for Nicolas Jackson next season.
