Liam Rosenior has been sacked by Chelsea on Wednesday, a move that underlines the club’s manager turnover since BlueCo’s takeover.
According to L'Équipe, the Englishman lasted 104 days after being recruited from Strasbourg in early January to replace Enzo Maresca, and poor results have left European qualification next season in doubt.
His stint was longer than Igor Tudor’s at Tottenham, yet it maintains the pattern of instability since 30 May 2022, when BlueCo bought the club. Chelsea have used eight different coaches in that time, interims included.
Discounting the short caretaker spells of Bruno Saltor, two days, and Calum McFarlane, six days, as well as Frank Lampard’s 85-day return, Rosenior has the briefest tenure. McFarlane will now take charge until the end of the season.
Counting only Chelsea’s five permanent managers under BlueCo, and measuring Thomas Tuchel at 100 days from the takeover date, the average tenure is 265 days. That figure is lifted by Maresca, the only coach to complete more than one season in the post.
Set against Premier League changes since the start of 2022-2023, Chelsea are the division’s most unstable club, level with Tottenham.
