I have seen plenty of statistics floating about ahead of the game.

What have you been making of them?

Some Bournemouth v Newcastle statistics that I have spotted getting put out there ahead of Saturday afternoon (a number of them via BBC Sport):

Eddie Howe is winless in each of the last nine Premier League meetings between Bournemouth and Newcastle United: five with the Cherries and four in charge of the Magpies.

The Cherries took four points out of six against Newcastle last season.

Newcastle have not kept a clean sheet in any of the last 11 top-flight meetings.

They are unbeaten in their opening home league fixture in each of the past six seasons since a 2-0 defeat under Eddie Howe against Watford in 2017-18 (W3, D3).

Newcastle are looking to win their opening two Premier League matches in a season for the first time since the 1997-98 campaign under Kenny Dalglish.

The Magpies won their opening league away fixture in only one of the last 12 seasons (D3 L8) – a 2-0 victory at West Ham in 2020-21.

Here are a few other Bournemouth v Newcastle statistics that certain parts of the media are ‘forgetting’ to mention in the build up to Saturday’s match:

Bournemouth did pick up four points from Newcastle United last season BUT three of the four goals were scored by Solanke, who will be a massive miss for them now.

Ahead of this weekend’s matches, in 2024, only Cole Palmer had been directly involved in more top-flight goals than Alexander Isak, who has scored 13 goals and set up three.

Bournemouth, have won two of their last nine Premier League games and in the other seven they have conceded 15 goals, losing five and drawing two.

Since Christmas 2023, the last 21 Premier League matches have seen Newcastle United fail to score only once.

In their last 11 Premier League games, Newcastle have won seven of them, drawn two and lost only two.

Bournemouth have won only one of their last ten matches (all competitions) against Newcastle United.
