Atlético Madrid slip up on matchday six

Atlético Madrid created the better chances throughout Saturday’s meeting with struggling Athletic Club. They thought they had won the game when their pressure finally told in the 86th minute. A deep cross was headed back across goal for Lauren to nod in from close range. However, Athletic Club produced an instant response through Jone Amezaga, who steered a header past Lola Gallardo to snatch a point.

Second-placed Atleti are now four points behind Barcelona, while Athletic are sitting a couple of places above the drop zone.

Costa Adeje Tenerife remain unbeaten

Costa Adeje Tenerife are just a point behind Atleti in third position following their successful outing against Real Sociedad.

Sakina Ouzraoui drove the ball in off the post to open the scoring in the 12th minute. Ouzraoui then won a penalty which was subsequently dispatched by Natalia Ramos. Real Sociedad’s Edna Imade became the first player to score against Tenerife this season when she halved the deficit before the break. However, the visitors stood firm in the second period to extend their unbeaten start with a narrow win.

Barcelona and Real Madrid cruise to three points

Barcelona youngster Clara Serrajordi made an impact in Saturday’s away clash against Eibar. The 17-year-old guided the ball home from Sydney Schertenleib’s layoff to score her first Liga F goal. Barcelona extended their advantage through Vicky López inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half. The midfielder wriggled through the Eibar backline to fire home her fourth goal in six league games. Caroline Graham Hansen and Salma Paralluelo went on to grab a goal apiece to wrap up another successful outing for the reigning Liga F champions.

After being held to a draw in their recent meeting with Costa Adeje Tenerife, Real Madrid returned to winning ways with a dominant display against Badalona. Linda Caicedo fired in from the edge of the box to register her first Liga F goal of the season. Naomie Feller doubled the advantage in the closing stages of the first period, before Athenea del Castillo added a third with the only goal of the second half. Despite clinching maximum points, Real Madrid are still outside the top three in fifth position.

Madrid CFF among flurry of home wins

Madrid CFF are level on 11 points with Real Madrid after taking all the spoils from their home meeting with Levante. Allegra Poljak broke the deadlock with a sublime individual effort. The Serbia international evaded a couple of challenges as she drove in from the left flank before curling a low shot past Laura Coronado. Matters got worse for Levante when Sintia Cabezas was sent off before half time following a collision with Hildur Antonsdóttir. Kamilla Melgård ended any hopes of a Levante equaliser when she added a second in the 79th minute.

Alhama also enjoyed success on home turf against Deportivo La Coruña. Marta Gestera fired home a thunderous effort from outside the box, before Astrid Álvarez nodded home the second goal of the first period. Belén Martínez went on to score in back-to-back matches to seal all three points, even though Paula Monteagudo managed to net a consolation for Dépor.

Meanwhile, Sevilla required just one goal to see off Espanyol on Saturday. Andrea Álvarez headed in from a deep corner in first-half stoppage time, netting her first goal since arriving from Eibar in the summer. As a result of the defeat, Espanyol finished matchday six in the bottom two.

DUX Logroño still winless

DUX Logroño are still searching for their first win of the season after they played out a score draw with Granada at the weekend. Former Logroño star Sonya Keefe opened the scoring with her fourth goal of the Liga F season. Daiana Falfán proved to be the home side’s saviour, lashing the ball in off the upright to net an 84th-minute equaliser. While they will be pleased with a point after falling behind, the newly-promoted side will be desperate to end their wait for victory sooner rather than later.

Best Liga F goal of matchday six

Poljak’s effort takes our pick for best goal of the matchday. The Madrid CFF attacker showed great skill and determination to take the ball into the box from the left touchline, before producing a clinical strike to round off a sublime individual effort.
