The top four in Liga F all picked up wins without conceding on Matchday 24 of the 2024/25 season. Barcelona and Real Madrid saw off Granada and Real Sociedad, respectively, while Atlético Madrid and Athletic Club got the better of Valencia and Deportivo La Coruña.
Here, we will recap the final round of Liga F action before the March–April international break.
Eibar edged out Levante to claim a fourth consecutive victory in Liga F. Mariana Cerro opened the scoring with a stunning effort in the 15th minute. The 24-year-old drove into the box from the left flank before rifling an unstoppable strike into the top corner. Elba Vergés then headed home from a free kick to give the visitors a two-goal lead at the break.
Eva Alonso pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute, but it ultimately proved to be too little too late for Levante. As a result, the hosts remain just one point clear of the drop zone.
Tenerife produced a dominant display in their home meeting with Espanyol. Pisco fired home a penalty to get the hosts up and running before Bicho made it two to leave Espanyol with a mountain to climb.
Lice Chamorro attempted to start the fight back when she scored a header in the opening five minutes of the second period. However, Linnéa Laupstad quickly restored Tenerife’s two-goal cushion, firing a low strike past Romane Salvador to net her first Liga F goal. Salvador then gave away a penalty before she quickly made amends to deny Rinsola Babajide from the spot.
Despite that setback, Babajide eventually found the net in the 82nd minute, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner after collecting Jassina Blom’s pass. Tenerife moved up to sixth place with the win, while Espanyol are in the 12th spot with six games left to play.
Real Betis remain in the bottom two after they failed to take anything from their away game against Madrid CFF. The contest was goalless until Bárbara López broke he deadlock in the 62nd minute. The forward slotted through the goalkeeper’s legs after she raced onto a long ball forward.
Aldana Cometti then headed in from a deep corner to wrap up back-to-back home wins for Madrid CFF. As for Betis, they have now lost three consecutive games without scoring.
Third-placed Atlético remain one point clear of Athletic after they swept past Valencia over the weekend. Synne Jensen found the all-important breakthrough in the 44th minute, sweeping the ball in from Andrea Medina’s squared pass. Luany added a second in first-half stoppage time to give Atleti a commanding lead at the break.
Silvia Lloris effectively made sure of the three points in the 54th minute, guiding the ball into the far corner from Jensen’s cutback. Unfortunately for Valencia, they stay at the bottom of the table with six points separating them from safety.
Athletic kept the pressure on Atleti with a routine home win over Deportivo La Coruña. After playing out a goalless first half, the Basque side opened the scoring in the early stages of the second period. Ane Azkona calmly slid the ball past Inês Pereira after she was sent through on goal by Sara Ortega’s well-weighted through pass. Azkona went on to grab a second to wrap up back-to-back victories for Athletic.
Liga F leaders Barcelona had to remain patient in Sunday’s meeting with Granada at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. The Catalan giants finally broke the Granada resistance in the 72nd minute when Vicky López showcased great composure to steer her right-foot shot beyond Sandra Estévez.
Within two minutes, Alexia Putellas found the back of the net to ensure all three points. The two-time Ballon d’Or winner guided the ball home from Ewa Pajor’s pullback. The result keeps Barcelona four points clear of second-placed Real Madrid in the Liga F title race.
Badalona and Sevilla had to settle for a point in a contest that produced just four shots on target. Sevilla carried the greater threat in the contest, although Badalona’s Ghizlane Chebbak did hit the crossbar from a free kick in the early stages of the second half.
Unfortunately for Badalona, they drew a blank in a fourth consecutive match as their winless run extended to seven games. As for Sevilla, they have now failed to score in four of their last five matches.
Real Madrid bounced back from their disappointing Champions League exit with a resounding victory in Sunday’s clash against Real Sociedad. Caroline Weir netted the early opener, slotting past the onrushing goalkeeper after latching onto Naomie Feller’s through ball.
Caroline Møller doubled Real Madrid’s lead in the 71st minute when she tapped in from Signe Bruun’s setup. There was still time for Athenea del Castillo to drill a low shot home to wrap up a dominant victory.
