América are intent on offloading Nicolás Benedetti before the 2021 Apertura starts.

The attacking midfielder was already on the fringes of Santiago Solari’s squad after a couple of injury-plagued campaigns.

But the final nail in the coffin came when Benedetti was one four senior players caught breaking COVID-19 protocols at a party last month.

According to the El Francotirador column in RÉCORD, Las Águilas have offered the 24-year-old as part of player exchanges to Santos Laguna and Tijuana but without success.

The Azulcrema are rumoured to be interested in Atlanta United attacker Ezequiel Barco, and could offer their outcast as part of a deal with the Major League Soccer side.

There is also a chance that Benedetti could return to his native Colombia.

Whatever happens, it seems certain that the Deportivo Cali man’s days at the Estadio Azteca are over.

He made just four appearances during the Guard1anes 2021 campaign, three of which came off the bench.
