América Femenil are targeting their first back-to-back title in Apertura 2026. The campaign will start on 31 July, with Liga MX Femenil introducing a new format.
According to Americayya.net, the league will be split into two groups of nine from the upcoming tournament, a move intended to cut the number of matches. The push comes after Las Águilas completed a historic double, becoming the first team in the competition to do so.
Group A will comprise Tigres, Rayadas, Cruz Azul, Toluca, Juárez, León, Atlante, Santos and Querétaro. Group B will include América, Chivas, Pumas, Pachuca, Atlas, Xolos, San Luis, Necaxa and Puebla.
Teams will face every opponent within their group, and there would also be six inter-group matches, to be confirmed when the full calendar is released. The fixture list is expected by the end of the month.
Qualification for the next stage would remain at eight teams, with four advancing from each group.
