Lille v Paris Saint-Germain

This Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash between Lille and Paris Saint-Germain promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the season.

PSG arrive in superb domestic form, having surged to the top of the table thanks to the goalscoring exploits of Bradley Barcola, whose combination of 14 goals and 10 assists made him one of the Europe's most productive forwards last term. Add to that the creativity of Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz and João Neves, and the Parisians look as dangerous as ever.

The subplot makes this match even tastier: PSG’s summer signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille adds extra tension, with the former LOSC goalkeeper now set to face his old club in the colours of their biggest rivals. PSG’s January capture of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has also added another dimension to their attack, giving them even more unpredictability in wide areas.

Lille, however, should not be underestimated. Olivier Giroud has returned to French football and continues to be their talisman in attack, with his movement and finishing still a major threat. Supporting him are exciting young talents like Osame Sahraoui, Hákon Haraldsson and Ayyoub Bouaddi, who have brought energy and creativity to the side.

With PSG’s firepower and Lille’s youthful dynamism, plus the history of this fiercely contested fixture, Sunday’s encounter has all the ingredients of a thrilling Ligue 1 battle.
