Ligue 1 Saturday night multiplex expected to return next season

According to L'Équipe, Ligue 1's Saturday night multiplex is expected to return next season, featuring four matches including a higher-profile tie.

The changes come amid movement at LFP Media following the announced departure of chief executive Nicolas de Tavernost. The LFP has yet to decide whether to adopt his proposal to relaunch a broadcast tender for 2029-2034.

Kick-offs would be at 20:45 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Saturday multiplex was scrapped after the 2020-2021 season when Mediapro took most Ligue 1 rights for its Téléfoot channel. It was not revived by Amazon Prime Video from 2021 to 2024, nor by DAZN in 2024-2025.

The reconfiguration is eased by Ligue 1+ carrying all nine matches each round, having secured the main fixture that beIN Sports holds until the end of this season.

A Sunday night magazine, airing before and after the prime-time game, will be free to access. Ligue 1+ aims to add one million subscribers by 2029.
