Tomas Cvancara joined Celtic on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach back in January, but didn’t have too much joy in the hoops, making just 13 appearances and scoring two goals.

The Czech international striker’s spell in Glasgow also ended abruptly, with injury forcing him to miss the vital end of season run in that culminated in the club claiming the most unlikeliest of domestic doubles.

So it’s fair to say that Tomas didn’t have too much in the way of success as a Celtic player, but he can always look back on the day he scored the winning penalty kick in a dramatic shootout victory over the Rangers at Ibrox in a very memorable Scottish Cup quarter final victory.

The big Czech striker was the coolest person inside the tension filled Ibrox stadium, as he showed remarkable composure to fire the Hoops into the semi finals of the competition that they would of course go on to win.

What followed next was unforgettable, and for all the wrong reasons as hundreds of thuggish Rangers supporters entered the field with the sole intention of causing harm to the jubilant Celtic supporters whose emotions had also led them onto the pitch, but with their main focus being on celebrating with their own victorious players.

The unruly scenes caused a national meltdown, leading to a full scale inquiry, which not only resulted in both clubs being forced to play their next Scottish Cup home fixture behind close doors, but once again halted the allocation of away supporters in this once world famous fixture.

The last time Celtic supporters enjoyed such a generous ticket allocation at Ibrox before that day back in March, was nine years previously, when Odsonne Edouard’s stunning goal sent the free Broomloan into a euphoric frenzy as a ten man Hoops side snatched a vital 3-2 win over the Ibrox side.

The Frenchman’s strike that day is also widely regarded as a major contributor in ending our generous ticket allocation, so Tomas is in great company and his vital and conclusive penalty kick in the shoot-out will probably be talked about in years to come as the reason that the traditional away allocation ended once and for all.

Will the SFA have to revise their Scottish Cup rulebook?

The only way that could happen as things stand is if the two are drawn together in the Scottish Cup because the SFA rules still point to a 20% allocation for away support.

That would apply to both Ibrox and Celtic Park. It would also cause an almighty row too despite it being a long standing rule that caused zero controversy until the latest Ibrox club started throwing toys out the pram after repeatedly losing to Celtic.
