According to a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins and confirmed by Foot Mercato, Lille OSC have reached an agreement in principle with Rangers for striker Hamza Igamane (22).
If all goes according to plan, the Moroccan international will arrive in the north of France on Thursday to complete his medical, wherein he’ll sign a three-year contract (with an extra year as an option).
A deal between the two clubs has been long in the making, with Les Dogues unwilling to meet the €15m transfer demand for their key target. Rangers appear to have blinked first, with Hawkins writing that the transfer should be around €12m.
Igamane’s arrival would help alleviate significant pressure on Olivier Giroud (38), who has played the full ninety minutes of Lille’s opening two fixtures of the season – a situation that looked to be untenable across the full campaign, despite the 2018 World Cup winner’s bright start to life back in his home country.
