With Leny Yoro’s (18) massive transfer to Manchester United now being official, Lille OSC are set to be more active on the transfer market, with the Champions League qualifiers just around the corner. Thomas Meunier (32) is set to be the club’s third addition this summer after Ethan Mbappé (17) and Ngal’ayel Mukau (19).
Lille’s summer was planned to be busy, with Yoro and Jonathan David (24), among others, being allowed to leave due to their contracts set to expire next summer. Les Dogues wants to avoid losing them for free, like it happened for Yusuf Yazici (27). Now that Yoro has joined Manchester United for a whopping €62M guaranteed fee, Olivier Létang’s side can start their summer business, with the aim of adding a few more profiles before the season kicks off with the UEFA Champions League’s third qualifying round. After long-term additions of Mbappé and Mukau to add depth to their midfield, Lille are closing on strengthening their back line.
According to L’Équipe, Meunier is set to join Lille on a free transfer after unilaterally cutting his contract with Trabzonspor. The left-back, who can also play as a centre-back, will bring his experience to a squad that was one of the youngest in Ligue 1 last season. The former PSG and Dortmund defender is expected to sign a two-year deal with Les Dogues.
