Anthony Gordon’s time at Newcastle United appears to be drawing to a close, and the club are preparing to replace him.
The 21-year-old Belgian forward has quietly put together one of the most impressive campaigns by any young attacker in Ligue 1 this season.
His profile fits precisely what Newcastle need – direct, technically assured and capable of operating across the frontline with equal effectiveness.
Fernandez-Pardo has recorded eight goals and five assists in Ligue 1 this season. His 44 percent shooting accuracy places him in the top percentile among Ligue 1 attackers in terms of efficiency.
Fernandez-Pardo and Newcastle’s current number ten share the same representative at Unique Sports Group.
The agency also manages Malick Thiaw, Jacob Ramsey and Lewis Miley – a detail that could facilitate discussions if Newcastle step up their pursuit.
Gordon’s imminent departure has been the worst-kept secret at St James’ Park for weeks, with Newcastle braced for an offer this summer.
He has reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich and appears to have one foot out of the door.
Fernandez-Pardo is contracted to Lille until June 2029, having joined from Gent for €10 million in August 2024 – a fee that now looks a bargain given his current performances.
The priority for Newcastle is straightforward – find a winger capable of filling a Gordon-shaped hole without paying Gordon-level fees.
On current evidence, Fernandez-Pardo may be the closest thing available.
