Fresh from scoring twice in Brazil’s 4-0 win in India, Samuel Lino has put himself forward to operate as Flamengo’s playmaker while Arrascaeta recovers from left wrist surgery.
According to Globo.com, Lino and Pedro are due back in Rio in the coming days and should be available for Thursday’s trip to Santos at 19:30 Brasília time at Vila Belmiro, in the 29th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
Speaking in the mixed zone at Salt Lake Stadium, Lino said he is prepared to help Flamengo in any role.
The vacancy created by the Uruguayan’s absence will also be contested by Paquetá, Carrascal and Plata, with Arrascaeta set to miss all of October.
Head coach Leonardo Jardim has already used Lino in the role, notably in a 3-0 win over Coritiba at the Maracanã. He impressed again in inter-season friendlies in Portugal and against Olimpia in Brasília.
