Samuel Lino scored one and set up another as Flamengo drew with River Plate in their first inter-season friendly.

According to Globo.com, Flamengo were the stronger side before the break, but wholesale changes slowed their rhythm and River were on top in the second half.

Bruno Henrique produced an early chance, rattled the bar on 43 minutes and scored Flamengo’s first. Jorginho misplaced a pass for River’s opener, then later won possession and provided the assist for the equaliser.

Pedro had two presentable chances, one a bicycle kick, but could not convert. Wallace Yan came on sharp, shot early, built another dangerous move and, in added time, failed to finish after a fine Lorran pass.

Rossi was assured and not at fault for the goals, with Andrew also secure when called upon. Emerson Royal was tidy but made one risky error, Daniel Sales replaced him then left injured, while Ayrton Lucas underperformed and the left flank looked exposed. Vitão and João Victor lacked assurance, and Erick Pulgar, only in his second game back, could not track the runner for River’s second. Leonardo Jardim’s side faded after the restart, their defence fragile and their attack wasteful.
