Lioli FC head coach Bongani Maseko has sent a strong message to Orlando Pirates after the Soweto giants brushed his team aside in the CAF Champions League.

The Buccaneers secured a dominant 7-0 aggregate win over the Lesotho champions in a two-legged tie of the first preliminary round.

Prior to the return leg at Orlando Stadium last Saturday, reports circulated that Maseko labeled Pirates as an overrated team following a 3-0 defeat in the first leg in Bloemfontein.

However, the South African tactician dismissed the reports, claiming he was misinterpreted as Abdeslam Ouaddou kept on gesturing to the Lioli bench that Pirates are not overrated every time his side scored.

“I check all my interviews, including that one. I said Pirates was not good enough. I did not say they were overrated; there’s a difference. Even before, I said Pirates have a good coach and have good players. Even now I am still saying that it’s a fact,” said Maseko.

While he insists he has utmost respect for the Sea Robbers, Maseko expressed desire to get one over Pirates, cautioning he will have a better squad at his disposal next time he faces the Betway Premiership heavyweights.

“So, I don’t know why he did that [gestures], but I am a young coach. I will come back; we will meet with a better team one day. I have confidence that one day something will happen, and we will meet with a better team, and we will see,” he added.

“So, I don’t want to create that dialogue, but I still maintain that he is a good coach and has good players. He has a good team, hence the scoreline.
