At Inter Miami, Lionel Messi represents an investment far beyond just his salary.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Florida franchise co-owner Jorge Mas revealed that Argentinian forward Lionel Messi actually costs Inter Miami between €60 and €74 million per year.
"I pay Messi — and he's worth every penny — but it comes out to between €60 and €74 million a year, all included," he explained. This is a figure far higher than his base salary, which is estimated at just over €18 million per season.
This gap is explained by certain contractual clauses, including a percentage tied to the franchise's valuation. Since La Pulga arrived in 2023, Inter Miami's value has surged from around €535 million to over €1.24 billion.
