It has been some years since Lionel Messi left FC Barcelona, but lately, there has been a lot of renewed speculation in the media about the Argentine superstar’s possible return to the Blaugrana team. Most of these rumours have been sparked by the recent visit of Messi to the Spotify Camp Nou last Sunday night.
In such a context, Messi appeared in an interview with SPORT, and although he did not directly comment on a possible return to the Catalan team, he admitted he still follows the club closely:
“Yes, yes, obviously I follow them, and even more so because several of us are together now and we always comment, talk about all the situations that happen at the club, the results, and the play.”
The Argentine has already visited the renovated Camp Nou, but was also looking forward to visiting the stadium again with the fans in attendance:
“I really want to return to the stadium when it’s finished, because since I went to Paris, I haven’t been back to the Camp Nou. It will be strange to see the new stadium because the last time I saw it was a long time ago, and it will be exciting to relive and remember everything it was, even though the stadium is different.”
The FC Barcelona president, Joan Laporta, has also expressed his desire to see Lionel Messi return to Spotify Camp Nou in the presence of 105,000 fans. For now, it remains to be seen whether such a reunion will take place, but things finally seem to be falling in line for such an eventuality.
