The Lionesses wrapped up a memorable 2025 with a 2-0 victory over Ghana at St Mary’s, completing their homecoming tour following their Euro 2025 success.
The win gave Sarina Wiegman’s side three wins from four celebratory fixtures around the country.
Aston Villa’s Lucia Kendall opened the scoring inside six minutes, capitalising on Chloe Kelly’s cross and a poor touch from Bénédicte Simon to fire past goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan.
Despite dominating possession and creating chance after chance, England were unable to add a second for most of the game, hitting the woodwork four times.
The first half was all England, with Aggie Beever-Jones and Missy Bo Kearns coming close and Kendall hitting the crossbar from a corner as Ghana’s defence and Konlan held firm.
It was not until stoppage time that England finally doubled their lead. Alessia Russo calmly converted a penalty after Comfort Yeboah handled in the box, putting the finishing touch on a dominant display.
