Rheinische Post reports that Premier League side Wolves are yet to reach an agreement with Borussia Mönchengladbach to sign Nico Elvedi (26), with discussions making little progress.

As reported last week, Wolves are in talks with Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Elvedi with the Swiss defender currently entering the final year of his contract. With little prospect of an extension beyond 2024, it’s increasingly likely that Elvedi will leave the Bundesliga club this summer, should they receive a suitable offer.

Borussia Mönchengladbach eye Leeds United’s Maximilian Wöber

Following the sale of Nathan Collins to Brentford, Wolves have identified Elvedi – who has a market value of €14m per Transfermarkt – as a replacement for the Irish defender. Should Elvedi leave the club, Borussia Mönchengladbach could expect to receive a fee of around €11m. In the event of the defender’s departure, they’ve identified Leeds United’s Maximilian Wöber as a replacement and following their relegation from the Premier League, a loan would be conceivable for all parties.
