Nottingham Forest supporters can watch a live stream of a pivotal planning meeting on proposals to expand the City Ground.

According to Nottingham Post, Rushcliffe Borough Council’s planning committee meets from six pm on Wednesday, 16 September to consider plans that would raise capacity by around 20,000.

Forest first outlined expansion ambitions in 2019, with a breakthrough when Rushcliffe granted permission in summer 2025. Initial proposals would only have added 5,000 seats, before far bolder plans were unveiled in December 2025 for consideration at the meeting.

The centrepiece would take capacity to 45,000 through a full demolition and rebuild of the Peter Taylor stand. The new stand would span multiple levels with general admission, hospitality suites, media facilities and a restaurant.

The restaurant would have an independent entrance for non-matchdays, and the Trent End stand and existing concourses will be retained.

Other changes include a further extension of the Brian Clough stand, lifting capacity to 52,000. Six residential properties on Rosebery Avenue and Colwick Road would be demolished to create a new public plaza, alongside reconfigured car and coach parking.

When the scheme was presented in December 2025, the club said the project could, in theory, be completed by 2033.

Traffic at Trent Bridge remains a potential hurdle. A proposed matchday lane closure was rejected by highways authorities, and they have since suggested the club should fund a new crossing to ease congestion.
