Liverpool are 'advancing in talks' to sign Dutch defender Jeremie Frimpong according to reports.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold – booed by a section of the Anfield faithful when he was introduced against Arsenal at the weekend – finally confirmed to be leaving the club, Arne Slot is looking to bring in the Bayer Leverkusen man to replace him.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Liverpool have 'approached' the German side about his €35 million release clause.

The former Manchester City academy player left the English side for Celtic before joining Leverkusen midway through the 2020/10 season.

Since then, Frimpong has played 190 times for the club, scoring 30 and assisting 39 goals from right back.
