Liverpool have agreed a deal with the next Adam Wharton in an exciting move.

Everyone wants the Crystal Palace midfielder but he's a hard person to sign. Liverpool have found out first hand that it's not easy to sign players from Wharton's club.

The pursuit of Marc Guehi turned into an utter disaster last summer when he was already wearing the club's training gear before Palace pulled the plug on the deal in the last minute.

This summer Liverpool tried to sign Ismaila Sarr to no avail once again. Palace wanted to £75m for the Senegalese attacker which was just simply not feasible for the Reds.

So, the pursuit of Wharton in the future hangs in the balance.

Liverpool's plans for the midfield

With or without Wharton, the Reds do have to have some big preparations for the future of their midfield.

The defence and the attack have undergone a transformation in the last couple of transfer windows. It feels like both are well-set up for the future with only a couple of additions missing.

That's the opposite for the midfield where uncertainty looms. Alexis Mac Allister speaking in his press conference ahead of Liverpool facing Atletico Madrid very much cast uncertainty over his future.

Mac Allister doesn't know whether he is going to be offered a contract extension. There's talk Liverpool could already be making their move to sign Lamine Camara in the January window.

The Reds also failed to replace Curtis Jones with Trey Nyoni expected to be promoted. Whether he is ready to make the step-up only time will tell.

Meet Liverpool's very own Adam Wharton - Haydn Murray-Holme

Liverpool have confirmed that they have agreed a deal with Murray-Holme to sign his first professional contract with the Reds.

It secured the England midfielder's future for the long-term and it's a major deal the Reds have managed to strike considering he is one of the best young midfielders in the country.

There's a very close resemblance to him and Wharton in terms of their style of play. Murray-Holme is also a technical player who is great with his passing and who loves to make line-breaking through balls.

He has averaged the most progressive passes (12.5 per 90 minutes) among midfielders in the U18 Premier League. He's also averaged the third most passes into the opposition's final third (13.56 per 90 minutes).

Murray-Holme has already been promoted to play for the U21 team in a friendly last year, and given the qualities he has and what Liverpool need, it won't be long until he joins Liverpool's first-team.

In the process, the Reds will discover the next Wharton.
