Reds forward has moved a step closer to a return to action
Alexander Isak has stepped up his recovery from ankle surgery after being spotted training alone ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League decider against Galatasaray.
Isak has been absent for Liverpool since before Christmas as he was injured while opening the scoring in the 2-1 win at Tottenham after a challenge from Micky van de Ven.
After being helped off the pitch by the club’s medical staff, it was later revealed that the Swedish international had suffered an ankle injury that included a fractured fibula and required surgery.
Isak will miss Wednesday night’s clash against Galatasaray as Liverpool seek to overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit to progress to a Champions League quarter-final tie against either Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain.
The forward did make an appearance in training on Tuesday afternoon, completing the final stages of his rehabilitation away from the main group.
Isak remains on course for a return to full team training after the international break following a positive update from Arne Slot prior to the 1-1 draw against Tottenham.
"[He is] With the rehab team still and not with the team yet,” Slot told reporters.
"If you ask me now I would say I don’t expect [Isak to go on international duty with Sweden in March].
“But we are still one-and-a-half weeks off, there is always co-operation between club and country, but I don’t expect him to play for us before that."

Joe Gomez, however, was not spotted in Tuesday’s session at the AXA Training Centre. This will raise concerns over his availability for the Champions League last-16 second leg.
Though, Slot should provide an update on the versatile defender in the pre-match press conference.
Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, Ibrahima Konate and Milos Kerkez were all in attendance and could return to the starting XI against Galatasaray after being dropped to the bench for the draw with Spurs.
