Orkun Kokçu’s form in Türkiye has drawn interest from Liverpool and Inter, and the midfielder has been linked with a move away from Besiktas.
According to Fanatik, Liverpool’s interest is reinforced by the presence of Arne Slot, the former Feyenoord coach of the 25-year-old, and Inter also remain in the frame. Newcastle United were among the clubs to show interest last summer.
The club hierarchy, led by Sergen Yalçin, will not entertain talks after paying €30 million for the player at the start of the season. The plan is to build next season’s side around their captain.
Kokçu shares that stance, targeting a league title with a club he considers his boyhood love. He is focused on finishing the campaign strongly and on reaching the 2026 World Cup with Türkiye, alongside Kerem Akturkoglu.
He joined Benfica in summer 2023 from Feyenoord as the club’s record signing, on a contract to June 2028 with a €150 million release clause. He produced 19 goals and 22 assists, lifting a Supertaça and a Taça da Liga, before a row with Bruno Lage at the 2025 Club World Cup preceded his exit.
