In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that Liverpool are hoping to re-sign Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Tyler Morton. It has been mentioned that the Reds are keeping tabs on the progress of the English talent as they look to bring him back to Anfield next year.
Morton has made a solid start to his Lyon career as he has put in a string of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 23-year-old has scored one goal in ten matches for the French club this season across all fronts.
The English talent is currently among the most talented central midfielders in Ligue 1. Hence, it is no surprise that the Reds are showing interest in re-signing him next year.
His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Liverpool to land him on a cut-price deal this winter or at the end of this season.

Morton loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to make some important interceptions for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer as well from midfield.
The English talent can even chip in by scoring the odd goal for his side. Morton is primarily a defensive midfielder but can also operate as a box-to-box midfielder if asked to do so. He already knows the Merseyside club well from his previous spell with them and won’t take any time to adjust to life in England.
We can expect Morton to add more quality and depth to Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola’s midfield. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at Anfield in the coming years.
At 23, Morton has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Reds to consider in 2027. He will also help the Merseyside giants compete across all fronts over the next few seasons. Therefore, Iraola should focus on going all out to bring him back to Anfield in the January transfer window or at the end of this campaign.
