In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke mentioned that Liverpool are in talks to sign Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi this summer. It is understood that the Reds are facing competition in the form of Arsenal and Manchester City in the race to land the Moroccan talent this off-season.

Bouaddi’s Rapid Rise In Ligue 1

Bouaddi enjoyed a solid campaign at Lille recently as he put in a string of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 18-year-old made 42 appearances for the French outfit in the previous campaign, securing one assist in the process across all competitions.

The Moroccan talent is currently among the most talented central midfielders in the Premier League. Hence, it is no surprise that the Reds are eyeing a move to bring him to Anfield in this transfer window.

His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Liverpool to sign him later this year.

Should Liverpool Boss Andoni Iraola Snap Bouaddi Up This Summer?

Bouaddi is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to earn possession back for his team at the centre of the park. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required and is a tidy passer as well.

The Moroccan talent can engineer the odd chance for his teammates in the final third. Bouaddi is primarily a central midfielder but can also serve as a defensive midfielder or as a right-back if told to do so by his manager. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Reds manage to move in for him later this year.

We can expect Bouaddi to bring more quality and depth to Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola’s midfield. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club in the coming years.

At 18, Bouaddi has got the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, the Reds would be wise to snap him up before the end of this summer transfer period.
