In a recent interview with Football Insider, former Premier League scout Mick Brown revealed that Liverpool are keeping a keen eye on Brighton and Hove Albion winger Yankuba Minteh. Brown said,

“Liverpool are looking at a whole host of options.

“When you’ve got a player like Minteh, who is performing consistently and doing well for a team like Brighton, there’s always going to be interest in him.

“He’s built himself a strong reputation, and that always attracts interest from bigger clubs.

“Liverpool have been keeping an eye on his performances, because he plays in a position where they feel they may need to strengthen.

“The thing is, Brighton are likely to demand £100million or something close to that for him.

“It could be a long-term option, but it’s more short to medium-term if they’re looking for potential replacements for Salah, because he’s 33 now.

“He signed this new contract and everybody was very happy to keep him, and rightly so, but there have been a few concerns about his performances recently.

“I’m sure he will get back on track, but Liverpool will have to be working to find his replacement because at some stage they will need to make a move.”

Minteh’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

The 21-year-old has caught the eye at times with his performances on the right side of Brighton’s attack in this campaign so far. Minteh has registered one goal and picked up three assists in 11 matches for the Seagulls this season across various competitions.

The Gambian talent’s current contract at the American Express Community Stadium will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, the Reds would have to make a big offer if they want to recruit Minteh next year.

What Will Minteh Bring To Liverpool?

Minteh is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He can strike the ball with power from long range and has got the eye to create some meaningful openings for his teammates in the final third.

The Gambian sensation is primarily a right-winger but can also operate as a left-sided wide player if told to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at Liverpool.

Minteh would bring more pace and firepower to Arne Slot’s frontline. He is good enough to serve as an ideal long-term successor to Mohamed Salah at the Merseyside club.

At 21, the future looks quite promising for Minteh. Thus, the Reds would be wise to step up their efforts to land him.
