Some good news for Liverpool amid interest in the Bournemouth winger

Liverpool will avoid further Africa Cup of Nations disruption next month if they sign Antoine Semenyo.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are "seriously interested" in Semenyo, who scored twice at Anfield in the opening Premier League game of the season.

It was reported earlier in the week that Semenyo’s new deal contains a £65million release clause, which will be active in January.

Furthermore, it is understood the clause must be activated by a certain date, as Bournemouth hope to give themselves enough time in the event they have to sign a replacement.

Amid Liverpool’s reported interest in Semenyo, they are in line to receive a huge boost if a deal is completed as Arne Slot would have the forward available throughout January.

This would be good news for Liverpool at a time when they are expected to lose Mohamed Salah, though the Reds remain in talks with Egypt over his release date.

Salah is expected to lead his country which means he is guaranteed to miss Liverpool’s league games against Tottenham, Wolves and newly-promoted Leeds across the festive period.

Among the other games Salah could miss is the second meeting of the season against Arsenal as they are currently scheduled to travel to north London on January 8, 2026.

While Semenyo has predominately operated from the left-hand side for the Cherries this season, scoring six Premier League goals in 11 appearances so far and weighing in with three assists so far, he would be an option to cover for Salah on the opposite flank if he does move to Merseyside.
