Liverpool have big plans as they clear the pathway for a wonderkid midfielder. Expect him in the Reds' first-team soon.

Liverpool sold Tyler Morton to Lyon this week - another homegrown talent moving on from the Reds. They land around £15m, per the BBC, which is a figure they'll be happy with, given there was only a year left on his deal.

Morton almost left last summer and was only kept around because the Martin Zubimendi deal fell through. Liverpool wanted another ball-playing holding midfielder in the squad and the youngster fit the bill.

Of course, Ryan Gravenberch would eventually step up and become one of the elite players in that role. He held down the position for the entire season, limiting Morton's minutes as a result.

So now Morton leaves but Liverpool haven't actually moved to replace him. And that creates a pathway for a genuine wonderkid.

The question is, though: Which one?

Liverpool's midfield pathway

With Morton gone and no replacement coming in, Liverpool create a void that two youngsters will hope to fill. The first is Trey Nyoni.

Nyoni impressed in pre-season once again and the 18-year-old is set for a slightly bigger role at Liverpool this time around. The Reds have him in their first-team squad and view him as an incredible talent.

We'll just have to see if he's ready.

If he's not, then James McConnell will fancy his chances of earning a spot in the squad. We're massive fans of McConnell and believe he could be the future in the Reds' midfield.
