Liverpool are hoping to sign the Brighton attacker Yankuba Minteh this summer.
They have already had offers of £50 million and £60 million rejected for the 22-year-old attacker, and Brighton are holding out for a fee of £70 million.
According to a report from Footy Africa, Liverpool are now in talks with the Premier League club regarding a deal for the attacker, and they are closing in on the transfer. They are expected to shell out a package in excess of £70 million for the Gambian International.
Liverpool need more quality on the flanks, and they have been linked with players like Bradley, Barcola, and Ibrahim Mbaye as well.
Minteh has done well in the Premier League for Brighton, and he could prove to be an excellent acquisition for Liverpool. However, he’s currently sidelined with an injury, and he is likely to miss several weeks. It’s surprising that Liverpool are ready to spend a substantial amount on the player, even though he will not be able to make an immediate impact.
Meanwhile, the £70 million asking price is quite high for the young attacker, and it remains to be seen whether he can justify the investment in the long term.
Meanwhile, Liverpool need to invest in multiple wide players, and they have already signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna. Minteh could be another interesting long-term acquisition.
According to the report from Footy Africa, the negotiations with Brighton are progressing well for Liverpool, and the two clubs are now looking to close the gap. It remains to be seen whether they can complete the deal formalities quickly. The attacker will certainly look to sort out his future as soon as possible.
