Liverpool have confirmed the injury suffered by Aurélie Csillag that could see the forward out on the sidelines for an extended time.
The Swiss international had helped put her team ahead in the dramatic 4-3 win away to Birmingham City in the Players Cup midweek. However, Csillag was stretchered off just before the break with a serious-looking injury.
Manager Gareth Taylor had suggested that it was an Achilles injury immediately after the game, something the club have now confirmed.
Liverpool have stated that Csillag suffered a 'rupture of the Achilles tendon' and will now see a specialist to decide on the best steps for her recovery. A rupture of the Achilles tendon will likely require surgery and would be expected to see the player out for around 6-12 months.
The Reds will also be without Lucy Parry, Sophie Roman Haug, and Mari Ward for Saturday's visit to take on local rivals Manchester United.
