Liverpool confirm departure of Ibrahima Konate | OneFootball

Another Liverpool player has opted to depart the club as the Reds announced Ibrahima Konate's exit on Sunday.

Over the last five years, the centre-back has won a Premier League winner’s medal from the 2024-25 title triumph, as well as successes in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup (twice) and FA Community Shield.

However, both the club and player couldn't agree to an extension leaving Konate to depart as a free agent.

The defender penned a personal statement to fans alongside the announcement, admitting that leaving as a free agent was not something he firmly decided on until recently. 

“I am deeply saddened that I didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to all of you at the last game," it read. "At that moment, I didn’t know it would be my final time wearing this shirt in front of you.” 

The news arrives as the transfer window once again links Konate with a move to Real Madrid. Bayern Munich are also reportedly interested in signing his talents.
