Jurgen Klopp Teases Liverpool Move for Yan Diomande

Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande has quickly become one of the narratives of the summer.

The 19-year-old, who is currently at the World Cup with Ivory Coast, is one of the hottest prospects in Europe.

Interestingly, Liverpool have a Mohamed Salah shaped hole in their attack and have already launched an £86m bid for Diomande.

The first bid was rejected, but Liverpool are still pushing for a deal.

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who now operates as the global head of soccer for Red Bull, spoke on Leipzig’s summer plans and might’ve dropped a little hint about Diomande’s future.

Klopp Speaks on Leipzig’s Transfer Plans

During an interview with ESPN, Klopp spoke on Leipzig’s transfer plans and whether players could leave the Bundesliga side.

He said: “We are not the pinnacle, there is always someone bigger. We played a great season, but it is not unlikely that five players leave for clubs like… Liverpool! I bought lots of players from Leipzig in the past.”

A handful of Liverpool players have joined from the Red Bull project in recent years such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate, whilst Takumi Minamino and Sadio Mane also developed through Red Bull.

Diomande could be the next to make the switch. Leipzig are said to be holding out for a fee of £116m for the 19-year-old, and Liverpool seem willing to go close to that figure.

PSG are also heavily interested in the teenager, but appear to be prioritising a move for AS Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche.
