Liverpool reportedly submitted a €115 million bid for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola.
However, The Athletic’s James Pearce says senior club sources say the news is false.
They insist an offer would have been pointless, with PSG demanding €170m for the winger. Liverpool may turn their attention to alternative targets.
Mohamed Salah’s departure has left a significant void in the Reds’ attack.
Finding a like-for-like replacement for the Egyptian is difficult, but Liverpool are looking to bring in someone who can add pace, creativity and goals.
Barcola has impressed since joining PSG from Lyon in 2023. He has made 152 appearances across all competitions, bagging 39 goals and 37 assists.
He can play across the frontline and is highly rated for his blistering pace, ball-carrying ability and dribbling skills.
Encouragingly for Liverpool, the Frenchman wants to join them. However, agreeing a deal with PSG is proving difficult, as they are demanding a sizeable fee.
The forward’s contract at the Parc des Princes will expire in 2028, and he has made it clear he won’t sign a new deal.
