Liverpool produced a dominant display at Anfield to secure their place in the Carabao Cup final with an emphatic victory over Tottenham. Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, the Reds delivered a commanding performance to overturn the deficit and book a showdown with Newcastle at Wembley on March 16.
From the opening whistle, Liverpool dictated the tempo, while Spurs struggled to gain a foothold. Goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Virgil van Dijk sealed a comprehensive win, sending Anfield into full celebration mode.

Liverpool wasted no time asserting their dominance, pinning Tottenham back with relentless pressing and quick passing. The breakthrough came in the 34th minute when Yves Bissouma lost possession in midfield, allowing Salah to pick out Darwin Núñez in the box.
Though Núñez scuffed his shot, Cody Gakpo reacted quickest, drilling the ball past the helpless Spurs goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky to level the tie on aggregate.
Tottenham, who had harbored hopes of ending their 17-year trophy drought, struggled to respond. Their attack looked toothless, and Liverpool’s backline, marshaled by Van Dijk, comfortably dealt with any rare threats.
If Spurs were hoping for a turnaround after halftime, those hopes were quickly dashed. Just five minutes into the second half, Liverpool earned a penalty when Kinsky clattered into Núñez inside the box.
Salah, as clinical as ever from the spot, stepped up and rifled his penalty into the net, putting Liverpool firmly in control of the tie. Anfield erupted as the home supporters sensed the job was nearly done, with chants of “Wembley” echoing around the stadium.
Spurs, meanwhile, looked out of ideas. Their lack of attacking intent and sluggish midfield play allowed Liverpool to dictate the game without much resistance.
With Tottenham needing two goals to force extra time, Liverpool showed no mercy. In the 71st minute, Conor Bradley whipped in a precise cross from the right, and Dominik Szoboszlai met it with a composed finish to make it 3-0.
Any lingering hope for Spurs was extinguished moments later when Virgil van Dijk rose highest to meet a corner, powering a header into the net to cap off a dominant performance.
By that point, the contest was over, and Liverpool’s focus had already shifted to their upcoming Wembley final against Newcastle.
Liverpool’s commanding victory not only secures their place in the Carabao Cup final but also reinforces their status as one of the most dominant sides in English football. Under Arne Slot, the team has continued to play with intensity, tactical discipline, and ruthless efficiency.
For Spurs, this loss is yet another reminder of their struggles in major competitions. Despite showing promise in the Premier League earlier in the season, they failed to rise to the occasion against a high-flying Liverpool side.
With Wembley now in sight, Liverpool will be aiming to defend their Carabao Cup crown and add yet another piece of silverware to their storied history.
