Liverpool were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Fulham as Alvaro Arbeloa’s side picked up their first Premier League point of the season at Anfield.
Andoni Iraola’s side struggled to reproduce the level of performance that had earned them a 2-1 Champions League victory over Atletico Madrid in midweek, with Fulham causing the hosts problems throughout.
Liverpool’s best opportunity of the first half fell to Victor Munoz, whose header struck the crossbar as the hosts searched for a breakthrough.
Bradley Barcola was handed his first Premier League start following his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain, but Liverpool struggled to create enough clear-cut opportunities against a well-organised Fulham defence.
Arbeloa’s side showed plenty of ambition themselves despite arriving at Anfield having lost their opening three league matches and deservedly held on for a clean sheet and their first point under the Spaniard.
The result leaves Liverpool unbeaten in the Premier League under Iraola but with three draws from their opening four matches.
