Liverpool face competition for 'amazing' star from Premier League rivals

Liverpool were linked with a fair few players during the summer transfer window.

The Anfield outfit needed to make a lot of changes to their ranks after only finishing fifth in the Premier League table last term.

Arne Slot's shortcomings meant that he was relieved of his duties with Andoni Iraola being appointed to take his place.

This was obviously a good move for the Reds as, at the moment, they're still unbeaten across all competitions.

However, even though the Reds' first-team squad is clearly in a better place now than it was last term, there are still a couple of areas that could do with being upgraded.

So, the fact that the Reds are being linked with signing more players is certainly good news.

But, since a lot of the Premier League's teams want to sign the same players, the Anfield outfit are going to have to face a lot of competition for transfers with the latest news to emerge backing that theory up.

Jarell Quansah is attracting interest from the Premier League

At the moment, it feels like Liverpool's defence is fairly solid.

Indeed, the Reds' left-backs could be a bit stronger as both Kostas Tsimikas and Milos Kerkez have failed to meet expectations.

However, aside from this, Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Jacquet and Ronald Araujo seem to be fitting into their roles fairly well.

But, since Araujo is only on a season-long loan and doesn't have an obligation to buy in his deal, Liverpool could be down another right-back by next summer.

So, that's why their recent links with Jarell Quansah are hardly surprising.

Liverpool will have a buy option in summer 2027 that can be activated and, with the way that things have panned out so far, it feels likely to get triggered.

However, thanks to an update from German outlet Fussball Europa, the Reds could be about to face some stiff competition for the Englishman.

"There is certainly interest in Bayer Leverkusen's central defenders," they wrote.

"Quansah, who was linked with a return to Liverpool in the summer, reportedly continues to attract interest from the Premier League."

Jarell Quansah could end up being Liverpool's perfect transfer next summer

Ever since Trent Alexander-Arnold exited Anfield, right-back has been a major issue for Liverpool.

The Englishman had that position locked down for a good few years and, although fans expected him to leave, they probably though that Jeremie Frimpong would be able to plug some of the gap he left behind.

However, that has been far from the case with the Dutchman failing to meet expectations in almost every single game that he's featured in for Liverpool.

This lack of form is one of the main reasons why Araujo was brought in, especially with Conor Bradley still side-lined due to injury.

Quansah would end up costing Liverpool around £52 million thanks to the buy clause in his deal and, since he's now a fully fledged England international, that seems like an absolute steal.

The fact that the "amazing" centre-back is homegrown also helps massively.

Indeed, it would feel a tad harsh on Araujo to not sign him but, unless Liverpool clear out some of their non-homegrown players over the course of the 2026-27 season, sacrifices will need to be made and unfortunately for the Uruguayan, he could be one of them.

Obviously, there's no knowing how things will end up panning out next summer but, especially with how inflated the market is at the moment, Liverpool would be silly to not at least try and re-sign Quansah.
