Alisson Becker may have already played his final game for Liverpool.
The Brazilian has been the Reds’ undisputed first-choice since his arrival in 2018 but has faced plenty of time sidelined through injury.
After suffering an injury in March, Alisson has missed Liverpool’s last six league games and could be out for their remaining two also.
Reports have claimed that Juventus are increasingly confident in getting a deal over the line for the ‘keeper this summer, and Liverpool could be left searching for a new no.1.
Replacing Alisson won’t be an easy task, but according to a new report Liverpool may have already found the man they want to take the first-choice spot at Anfield.
Liverpool have already found Alisson’s replacement
It’s no surprise to see the Reds linked with several goalkeepers from around Europe, and Richard Hughes will no doubt be exploring all his options, but Alisson’s replacement has likely already been decided.
According to reliable transfer insider Ben Jacobs, it is in fact Giorgi Mamardashvili who will take over as Liverpool’s no.1 if Alisson leaves this season.
In a post on X, Jacobs confirmed that the Georgian will be given the opportunity to be the Reds’ first choice next season, and that the hierarchy at the club still view him as the long-term no.1 at Anfield.
This will no doubt be music to the ears of the 25-year-old who joined Liverpool in the summer.
Arne Slot’s side will likely still have to sign a ‘keeper however, with Freddie Woodman into the last few weeks of his deal.
When the Georgian does step up then a suitable replacement will have to come in as his back up, although highly rated academy prospect Arman Pesci could be given the opportunity if Liverpool don’t want to splash out.
If Mamardashvili has been picked as Alisson’s replacement, Hughes and Co will have one less thing to worry about this summer, and Liverpool’s backline will be playing in front of a ‘keeper they are already familiar with.
