With the FIFA World Cup ongoing - and eliminated participants on their post-season break - numbers at the AXA Training Ground have been at a premium for the first few days of preseason testing.

And combined with the departure of Mohamed Salah - as well as the injury to Hugo Ekitike - the summer period will provide a very useful opportunity for certain forward players.

Kieran Morrison to jet out on tour

The likes of Josh Abe and Kieran Morrison are due to fly out per a report in the Athletic - no doubt hopeful of catching the new Liverpool head coach’s eye.

Abe, 15, has inked a fresh contract at Liverpool in anticipation of signing a longer deal once he turns 17 next year. Liverpool have got plans to integrate the teenage sensation into the first-team setup next season - and he has already trained with the first team.

Morrison meanwhile has grown in stature over the last year or so - featuring for the first team and largely outgrowing youth football.

The next step for the attacking midfielder - who tends to feature from the right - is likely to be a loan move.

Loan move beckons for Kieran Morrison

The Northern Ireland international, 19, has signed a new deal with the club - extending to 2030 - and has got bags of potential ahead of a career in senior football.

Teams in the Premier League, Championship and across Europe have been reportedly keen to get a temporary switch done for Morrison.

And the US Tour will give him a chance to showcase his credentials for any potential suitors writes the Athletic.

Kieran Morrison has signed new deal with LFC

“With Mohamed Salah gone, Liverpool have a gap at right wing, which could present Morrison with a great opportunity to play substantial minutes and raise his profile,” the report reads.

“That would be beneficial for creating interest ahead of any potential loan move, which may happen later in the window.”

It’s probably a little too early in Morrison’s career to stake a claim for a consistent first-team place. Richard Hughes is instead chasing a deal for a new starting right-wing option such as Yankuba Minteh or Bradley Barcola.

But in time with the correct loan move we could see Morrison given his chances. It will all begin once he jets out for the preseason tour.
