Liverpool are braced for another potential raid from the Saudi Pro League, with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) plotting a summer move for talisman Mohamed Salah.

According to The Telegraph, Saudi clubs have even asked whether it would be possible to sign Salah this winter transfer window, but Liverpool aren’t encouraging any mid-season move.

The Reds have shown little appetite to negotiate a transfer this month, and there is also the question of whether Salah himself is ready to walk away from elite European football at the age of 33.

Salah is currently going through his worst spell in a Liverpool shirt, scoring just four goals and providing three assists in 14 Premier League appearances.

In fact, he hasn’t scored for Liverpool since the 2-0 win over Aston Villa back in November last year, going seven games in all competitions without a goal.

However, he was one of the top scorers at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco, scoring four times as Egypt reached the semi-finals.

Salah had an explosive row with Liverpool towards the end of last year, during which he publicly criticised the club and claimed he was being made a scapegoat.

Despite the row, Liverpool made it clear that they want their club legend to see out the remainder of his contract, which runs out in the summer of 2027.

However, there’s now a decent chance that he may be playing in his final campaign for the club.

Liverpool have already missed out on a chance to pocket an earth-shattering transfer fee for Salah once.

If the SPL returns with another mammoth proposal, they could find it hard to look the other way, particularly with Salah showing signs that he could be in decline.

Whether Salah is ready to leave Liverpool one year after signing a new contract will become clearer later.

However, his future at Liverpool remains a major talking point, especially if the club decides to draw a line under his time at Anfield at the end of the season.
