Liverpool have got space on the right side of their attack following the departure of Mohamed Salah.

On the club’s preseason tour of the United States we could see a trio of promising youngsters tried in that position.

Rio Ngumoha may be moved over from the left side of the attack with Joshua Abe and Kieran Morrison also potentially getting opportunities.

Morrison, 19, is an intriguing prospect following a breakout season at under-21 level.

Kieran Morrison signs new contract

The Northern Ireland international has stepped up for the senior team - playing in an EFL Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

Morrison inked a new deal back in May - tying him to the club until 2030 - underlining the faith those inside Anfield have got in him.

It may be difficult for the left-footer to make another decisive first-team breakthrough particularly in the short term if Richard Hughes ends up signing a new winger.

with teams in the Championship and the Bundesliga thought to be interested.

Now comes a report in On the Minute which claims that Morrison has been targeted by ambitious Championship side Bolton Wanderers for a 2026/27 loan deal.

Bolton want Morrison loan deal

“Bolton Wanderers are stepping up their preparations for life back in the Championship by targeting Liverpool prospect Kieran Morrison,” the report reads.

“The newly promoted Trotters want the versatile attacker on loan for the 2026/27 campaign.

“Steven Schumacher’s side can offer Morrison valuable minutes in a demanding division.

“Liverpool must now decide whether Bolton represent the best destination or if an overseas move would accelerate his progress.”

Morrison set to follow in Bradley's footsteps

Bolton have already acquired Luca Stephenson on a permanent deal having struck an agreement with the Reds.

Now Morrison will have the chance to follow in the footsteps of Conor Bradley - his fellow international colleague - who spent the 2022/23 season on loan at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

Kieran Morrison: Situation summary

is a left-footed, attack-minded wide midfielder who can also work centrally, and Liverpool like his direct running, flair and ability to get into scoring areas.

He has already made a senior debut and remains one of the more interesting academy attackers in the building. Liverpool tied him down on a new long-term deal in May, so the club are in no danger of losing him cheaply.

The next move is most likely a loan, with Championship and European interest already in the frame, because he needs regular senior football to keep developing.

Under Andoni Iraola, the more relevant question is whether Morrison can eventually grow into a high-energy wide option for Liverpool, not whether he is on the verge of being moved on.
