The Ghana international has provided six goals and three assists for the Cherries so far this term - putting interested clubs including Liverpool on red alert.

Attention has been drawn to the existence of a release clause in Semenyo’s contract - with the attacker’s new deal agreed in the off-season.

At £65m, Semenyo is surely one of the most attractive attacking targets for the Premier League’s big guns - Liverpool included.

Richard Hughes can conduct a Semenyo masterclass

But Liverpool could end up signing Semenyo even cheaper if they remain patient.

That’s because a report from Liverpool insider Paul Joyce in the Times claims that the player’s release clause is due to DROP next summer.

Under contract until 2030, Semenyo will be on the market for around £50m in the summer 2026 transfer window.

Hughes was Bournemouth technical director when Semenyo was acquired for only £10m or so back in January 2023 from Bristol City.

And the Liverpool executive has been tipped to get in ahead of the competition to do a deal for one of the most in-demand players in the league.

Semenyo clause dropping to near £50m

“Hughes knows Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo well from his stint as sporting director of the south coast club and will know that a release clause of £65million in January drops to nearer £50million in the summer window — hence why Bournemouth are looking to create an auction,” the report reads.

It’s therefore in Bournemouth’s interest to sell Semenyo in January in order to maximise their transfer income.

But if Semenyo sees his career best served by a move to Anfield then he may well see fit to conclude the season with Bournemouth.
