Liverpool have told Arne Slot what they ‘expect’ from the next two games in order for him to avoid the sack as the Reds bosses delivered him a ‘final warning’ in their ’emergency meeting’ on Thursday.

Liverpool fell to their ninth defeat in 12 games on Wednesday, their worst run since 1954, with the 4-1 defeat at Anfield a new nadir for the Reds in a harrowing stretch after they walked to the Premier League title last term.

Jamie Carragher is very “angry”, Curtis Jones wants Liverpool to “go and smash someone” and as Slot reflects on his position becoming “untenable”, sporting director Richard Hughes and chief executive Michael Edwards were in attendance at an ’emergency meeting’ on Thursday in which they discussed the Reds manager’s future at the club.

That’s according to the ‘team of 5 elite reporters’ who contribute to the indykaila News account on X, who claim on Thursday morning that the Liverpool bosses were ‘ready to make tough decisions’ as ‘the urgency of the situation cannot be overstated’.

They wrote: ‘Liverpool Football Club is holding an emergency meeting tomorrow to discuss the pressing issue of the team’s poor performance and the future of manager Arne Slot according to respected sources.

‘With Michael Edwards, the CEO of Football for Fenway Sports Group, and sporting director Richard Hughes will attend the meeting, this is a critical moment for the club.

‘High-level officials from FSG are ready to make tough decisions, including the potential removal of Arne Slot, despite the initial plan to give him until January.

‘The urgency of the situation cannot be overstated; the team’s struggles may force their hand sooner than expected.

‘The clock is ticking , and the stakes have never been higher for @LFC.’

And the same X account has now revealed the outcome of that meeting, claiming the Reds bosses have issued Slot with a ‘final warming’.

indykaila stated: ‘Exclusive: The emergency @LFC meeting has ended. Arne Slot has been given final warning to turnaround the form.

‘6 points is expected from the next two @premierleague games. Final warning.’

We’ve seen nothing from Liverpool to suggest Slot or the players have it in them to turn things around against West Ham (A) and Sunderland (H), and what is evidently a fraught relationship doesn’t feel likely to be mended through this reported ultimatum issued by Hughes, Edwards et al.

Is this merely a two-game stay of execution for Slot at Anfield?
