Liverpool have been handed a major boost ahead of the return to Premier League action this weekend.

The Reds have enjoyed a fantastic start to life under Arne Slot, who has so far overseen a rather seamless transition following the departure of Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.

Slot has won 15 of his opening 17 games and his side sit top of the pile in both the Premier League and Champions League tables.

The Merseyside giants will be strong favourites to claim another victory upon the return of domestic football this weekend too.

Liverpool travel to struggling Southampton on Sunday and could welcome back a key player for their trip to the south coast.

Alisson Becker has missed their last seven games across all competitions after suffering a hamstring injury during the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace in early October but has been pictured back in training.

Republic of Ireland international Caoimhin Kelleher has deputised in his absence and has been praised by Slot, though few would doubt having the Brazilian back is a major boost for the club.

The fixtures will continue to pile up thick and fast ahead of the frantic festive schedule and Liverpool face a huge double-header next, with both Real Madrid and Manchester City due at Anfield.

Later this week, Slot is expected to provide further updates in regards to Liverpool’s other injured players. Diogo Jota, Harvey Elliott and Federico Chiesa all missed games before the international break and it remains to be seen when they will return.

Trent Alexander-Arnold pulled out of the England squad for their Nations League games against Greece and the Republic of Ireland but there is hope the right-back will be fit for the coming games.
