Liverpool Secure Senegalese Starlet Sidy Barhama Ndiaye in Long-Term Development Move

Liverpool have taken another significant step in their strategic youth recruitment by agreeing a deal to sign highly rated Senegalese winger Sidy Barhama Ndiaye, who has been training at the AXA Training Centre ahead of his long-term move to Merseyside.

The 15-year-old forward, already tipped as a future star, has joined the Reds’ youth setup for a short-term training spell under the FIFA-approved development scheme. Although he cannot officially become a Liverpool player until he turns 18 in December 2027, a deal has already been agreed in principle.

Key Target Identified Early

Ndiaye was first spotted by Liverpool’s expanding scouting network during his standout performances at the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations, where he impressed for Senegal. His technical ability, electric pace and decision-making under pressure quickly marked him as a priority target for the club.

Sporting director Richard Hughes, who has overseen an aggressive recruitment strategy since arriving at Anfield, has continued to focus on securing high-upside talent for the future. The signing of Ndiaye follows a string of notable youth acquisitions, including Golden Boy nominee Armin Pecsi from Puskás Akadémia and Will Wright, a prolific forward signed from Salford City despite interest from Arsenal.

Both players have already been integrated into Liverpool’s elite development squad.

Training Period Underway

According to Bence Boscak, reporting for Anfield Watch, Ndiaye is currently spending time at the club as part of a structured development plan that mirrors the approach Chelsea took with Kendry Paez, whose transfer from Independiente del Valle was finalised years before his arrival.

“Still only 15-years-old, Ndiaye won’t be able to join Liverpool until he celebrates his 18th birthday. This will be on the 31st December 2027,” the report confirms.“However, Liverpool have already agreed a deal to sign him in principle in a similar deal to Kendry Paez’s move to Chelsea from Independiente del Valle, which was agreed two years prior to his arrival this summer.”“As per FIFA rules, he will be able to spend up to eight weeks per calendar year at the club before he is able to officially complete his move.”

During a friendly appearance for Liverpool’s U18s against Fleetwood, Ndiaye came off the bench just after the hour mark. He made an immediate impact, delivering a driving run that led to Joshua Sonni-Lambie scoring with a pinpoint strike into the top corner.

Slot’s Liverpool Building for the Future

Under Arne Slot, who delivered the Premier League title in his first season at the helm, Liverpool are blending short-term ambition with long-term sustainability. Ndiaye’s signing is emblematic of a wider vision to build a conveyor belt of elite-level talent ready to contribute at the top level when called upon.

Ndiaye is expected to stay on Merseyside for another two weeks before returning to Senegal. He is anticipated to return again later in the year as part of Liverpool’s phased integration strategy.
