In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Liverpool have set their sights on Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams. It has been stated that the Reds are eyeing a move to bring the Spanish talent to Merseyside next year.
Williams has made a good start to this La Liga campaign as he has put in a few impressive displays for Athletic Bilbao in the final third. The 23-year-old has registered one goal and earned two assists in four matches for the Spanish outfit this season across various competitions.
The Spanish talent has given a good account of himself in the final third based on his average of 2.47 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has kept 25% of his attempts on target. Williams has even distributed possession well in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 75.4% in the Spanish top tier (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the La Liga club will run out in the summer of 2035. Thus, the Reds would have to make a big offer if they want to recruit Williams next year.

Williams is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it out on the flanks. He has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances in and around the opposition penalty area and can strike the ball purely from long range.
The Spanish sensation is primarily a left-winger but can also serve as a right-sided wide player if asked to do so by his manager. However, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to get him on board next year.
We can expect Williams to bring more firepower to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s defence. He has what it takes to compete for a regular first-team spot at the Merseyside club in the coming years.
At 23, Williams has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great choice for the Reds to consider this January or at the end of this campaign.
